Opportunities
exist to prepare for entry-level positions in general
merchandise, apparel and accessories, food marketing,
and other marketing occupations. Students will learn
the operations of store personel such as cashier, salesperson,
stockperson, receiving clerk, and head cashier. Students
may also elect to be department merchandisers, accounts
payable/receivable clerks, inventory control clerks,
promotional people or managers for the store. Many computer
simulations are also used in the program. Competencies
to be acquired in the Marketing program are in advertising,
communications and display, human relations, management,
mathematics, merchandising, business operations, product
and service technology, and selling. Second-year students
study entrepreneurial skills as well as manager/management
skills.
