Auto Mechanics
Initial Auto Mechanics courses teach basic skills and knowledge necessary to all entry-level trainees. Students will disassemble, measure, and reassemble a four-stroke lawn and garden-type engine. Shop Safety includes the use of jacks and hoists, and under-car maintenance is taught. Electrical survival skills and engine systems including starting, charging, ignition, lubrication, cooling system theory, and operation and service are included. Shop math is emphasized including units on whole numbers, fractions, decimals, metric system, basic geometry, and use of basic algebraic formulas to solve equations related to engine systems. Futher learning focuses on automobile systems. Steering, suspension and alignment, brake systems including ABS, and major engine repair are the main specialty areas.
